SEPSIS FACTS

It is estimated that more than 49 million people around the world are affected by this severe disease every year.2

Of these, around 11 million die each year, making sepsis one of the most frequent causes of death worldwide.2

Sepsis is characterized by a collapse of the immune system, caused by an infection. The precisely regulated balance between pro- and anti-inflammatory processes is disturbed.3-6
